Chapter 17 - Conspiracy From time to time I tend to write about things that no one else seems to want to write about. This topic is built around conspiracy theory, but is rather more about the aftermath of such activity. It isnÕt that conspiracy has not been written about, but almost all the writing has been about whether or not there was a conspiracy. IÕm talking about the terrible chain of assassinations of the 60Õs, starting with our President Kennedy and ending with his brother. It has now been fairly well documented that Mafia marksmen guarded by the Secret Service executed the President in order to control his brother, then the Attorney General who was deeply involved in taking down the leaders of organized crime. The KennedyÕs felt, probably from personal experience that organized crime was far too much in control and able to influence the local, state and national governments. This was brought on originally by alcohol prohibition. However that is not the subject of this missive. The subject is what it has brought us and where this policy of exterminating political opponents has led us. First it has shown the world, that the government of the United States of America can kill its leaders if they pose too much of a perceived threat to those who feel they must continue to be in control of the economy and politics of this country, the economy, for their own personal power and gain, and control of politics and the politicians who make the rules that keep them in their secret, behind the scenes positions of power and control. They have let us know they will not tolerate real change or any form of progressive social evolution with out a struggle. Now, that is a psychological aboration that we must live with. Whether this knowledge is conscious or not it has affected all our lives putting a real sense of fear into the political equation of our freedom. So now we must live with this, like we must live with the atom bomb, like we live with the "cover up" of the "Warren Commission" and the confused and not really enlightening "Senate Assassinations Investigating Committee" and its report. So we as a nation and the rest of the world have been robbed of the truth and misled into confusion and falsehood. Of coarse the "cover up" was absolutely necessary to preserve the status quo and keep those in power in control. What, we ponder, would have happened if the close ties between organized crime and the criminal justice system would have been exposed; if we had found out that Oswald was on the payroll of the F.B.I. as an undercover informant; that J Edgar Hoover was a homosexual and Meyer Lansky (the Mafia financier) had proof of this, that he was using this information to control J. Edgar? All this stink was covered up by the "Warren Report." Chief Justice Earl Warren is on record telling Jack Ruby he didnÕt have to testify. This in response to RubyÕs request to be moved from Dallas to Washington so he could testify in relative safety. We know the government has no qualms about lying to us to cover up its misdeeds all the while putting poor or even middle class citizens in jail for far less injurious behavior. Their message is if you get in the way too much they will kill you. They now have internationalized this policy, starting with the murderous suppression of our Southern HemispheresÕ democracy movement, our support of Israel in its conflict with the Palestinian peoples and finally in Iraq. We remember the less successful attempts to murder and terrorize the people of the Far East, Korea and Vietnam. We have paraded this form of arrogant violence in front of the world for six decades starting with Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These two mass murders were committed just to show the Russians what we could do to them. The Japanese were finished, they were suing for peace, we had starved them out, and they were ready to quit. There is not one iota of morality about any of this history. It is completely immoral and amoral. The "powers that be" that control this country have turned it into a huge international vampire, sucking the lifeblood out of the rest of the world. It is the ultimate continuation of the murder, rape and pillage of the Original Native inhabitants of this land. We have been seduced into accepting this subtle form of genocide with goodies; like cars, air conditioners, computers, Microwaves, cell phones, television, alcohol and drugs and new homes. While most of the rest of the world starves we fatten in a dream of reality. When Jack Nicholson acting in a movie as a Marine Officer shouts from the witness stand, "You canÕt handle the truth," that is the message from our government. But what they are really saying is that they think thereÕs still enough good people left in our country that if we knew what they were really up to we would kick them out. And thatÕs what theyÕre afraid of, losing control. TheyÕre ashamed of what they are doing or they wouldnÕt be so eager to cover it up. What our government, in the control of these power centers, oil, the military industrial complex, the corporate class and organized crime is doing is gradually, slowly but relentlessly leading our nation into becoming a fascist police state and a banana republic. The "Patriot Act" is a perfect example of that process. It should be called the "Unpatriotic Act." This act is doing exactly what we are told the terrorists are trying to do. It is destroying the Constitution. The Constitution these elected government officials were sworn (on a Bible) to protect. Is this not high treason? So where are we now? We are in a the hands of a government that conspired to kill its democratically elected President; that feels absolutely no constraint not to lie to the public; that spares no expense to cover up its illegal activities; that conspires in secret to further the business interests of the corporate "Good OlÕ Boys;" that works in secret to destroy the Constitution it has sworn to uphold and protect; that feels, no believes, it is above the law and can violate any law it chooses both domestic and international. A government whose policies and actions have made it universally hated and reviled. A government that has supported death squads and torture in Central and South America. All done to control the rich national resources of our poverty stricken neighbors to the south, and suppress attempts to make life a little bit better for their poor (a massive majority) by peaceful political action. Our government has helped to assassinate their democratically elected presidents, helped to install fascist dictatorships that have kidnapped, tortured and murdered thousand of their citizens. All this violence done under the cloak of anticommunism to make it seem acceptable. In reality we have crushed the popular political movements of our southern neighbors for the benefit of a tiny minority of wealthy people here and in these southern countries. We have interfered in the internal affairs of these countries with blatant arrogance, hidden only from the citizens of this country by media misinformation, lies and censorship. We have now reached the exact place that the Founding Fathers had tried so hard to avoid with the creation of the Constitution of the United States of America. Now we have a government that is bent on destroying personal freedom, political freedom and the democratic process. They have attained their electoral success by carefully contrived manipulation of the election process. They have denied the right to vote (in key states) to thousands of legal voters with inaccurate lists of supposed felons who were not felons at all, but merely African Americans. They have made certain voting precincts so short of voting machines that people had to wait in line for hours, which made it very difficult for workers and the working class to cast their ballots. All this was carefully planned and worked out by a phalanx of lawyers and political consultants to insure a victory, and when that victory was in doubt they went to the Supreme Court and stopped the counting! They have stolen the presidential election twice. Now this usurping President has lied us into a war that is killing and maiming our sons and daughters and has made the whole world less safe, not more safe. These realizations can make you angry but anger is not the answer. The answer is political action and passive resistance. The lessons that Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King so aptly demonstrated. You canÕt fight hate with hate, violence with violence, thus becoming what you are trying to defeat. The way is to organize politically, and using our constitutionally guaranteed rights, to express ourselves and create a political movement which will educate and inform our fellow citizens about the true nature of what is being done in their name. We must organize a mass movement by joining together with like-minded people and existing organizations. Organizations like the environmental, peace, civil rights, labor, family farmers, and other movements that wish to set our country back on its true course. To be the worldsÕ leader in the struggle for true democracy, human rights, freedom and justice for all. To eliminate poverty, war, and all other forms of violence. To tell the truth, to say what it means and mean what it says. I know this is a big order, a hard job, yet to be successfully preformed, but I am saying this is a job that must be done and must be done now, before it is too late.
