DANM 220: Computer Programming for the Arts, Winter 2008

Professor: Ralph Abraham, Ph.D. Math || Ralph's Homepage ||
Teaching Assistant: Katie Scott, Ph.D. Earth Science

Introduction

This course (DANM 220 Winter 2008) will be similar in format to last year's DANM 220 Spring 2007 of Charlie McDowell. The course is open to all DANM students, other students by permission, and auditors as space permits.

Syllabus

We anticipate five workshops of two weeks duration, each with a programming assignment. Students will choose which three of the five will count for credit.

The first two workshops are to be devoted to the same programming language, so four languages in all will be introduced. These will be chosen from the tentative language list, acccording to the interests of the group.

Projects

In addition to three programming assignments, each student (for credit) will create a term project in one or more of the languages. This will play the role of the final exam, and must be presented in class during the last week.

Schedule

We will meet in the Digital Arts Lab, Porter College D-245, T/Th 10-11:30 am.
