- B. Locate a periodic window in the Mira family.
- #1. Download the NetLogo model,
mira-03.nlogo.
- #2.: Use the model to find values of the parameter "a" and "b"
sliders with periodic behavior.
- 2.1 Adjust the "a" slider to "0.7", do not change it
- 2.2 Adjust the "b" slider to several values between "-1.0" and "-0.4"
- 2.3 Click the "setup" button,
- 2.4 Click "go-50000" to create an image of the Mira attractor
- Repeat step 2.4 if it makes a better image
- You are looking for a screen that is nearly all black.
Count the colored points to determine the period.
- #3. Report the approximate values of "b" and the corresponding periods
in an email to me at "rha@ucsc.edu".
- C. NetLogo model
- #4. Download the NetLogo model,
patches-02.nlogo.
- Change the model to make a patch pattern of your own.

- Grab an image of the NetLogo interface showing your pattern
and send it as an attachment to an email to me at "rha@ucsc.edu".
- #5. Modify yur piano model to function as a drum machine,
suitable for playing in a drum circle in class.
- Send it to me via email, along with your Mira results and your patch pattern.
