Complex Dynamical Systems

A Math-Science-Tech elective for high school students
by Ralph Abraham and Gary Skellington Jr. This will be an introduction to chaos theory, fractal geometry, complex systems, mathematical modeling, and computer simulation, in two parts.

Course Concepts, Part I, Gary

The first six weeks will be a unit unit on fractals and how they can be used to model environmental phenomenon. Students will also do preparatory exercizes for the second part.

Course Concepts, Part II, Ralph

Final four weeks. The main emphasis will be on applications to environmental problems. Students will create a model for an application of their choice in the NetLogo programming language.
