The Ratio between Long Island Now

and Long Island After Global Climate Warming Occurs

For my project I was tasked with finding out the percent of Suffolk County that would be afflicted by global climate warming, if it occurred. Using a site given to me by Mr. Abraham I viewed, printed and cut out the outline of Suffolk County every time the number of meters increased by three. Using Zero meters as a control, I then weighed each cutout on a scale (accurate to one ten thousandth of a gram) and then using the ratio given by the scale I found the following information:

__________________________________________________________________________________

Numbers given by Scale:

Number of grams of Long Island currently: 0.6186

Number of grams of Long Island at a reduction of three meters: 0.6051

Number of grams of Long Island at a reduction of six meters: 0.5800

Number of grams of Long Island at a reduction of nine meters: 0.5078

Number of grams of Long Island at a reduction of twelve meters: 0.4918

Percentage of Suffolk County Affected by global climate warming at zero meters: 0%

Percentage of Suffolk County Affected by global climate warming at three meters: 2.19%

Percentage of Suffolk County Affected by global climate warming at six meters: 6.24%

Percentage of Suffolk County Affected by global climate warming at nine meters: 17.82%

Percentage of Suffolk County Affected by global climate warming at twelve meters: 20.50%
