Ralph Abraham: India, February 8 -- 23, 2014
The voyage over, February 8 -- 10
Presently, the most efficient air route from San Francisco to
Kolkata involves one brief stop in Hong Kong, taking only
22 hours. But because I had a legacy credit with United Airlines that needed to be spent before an immanent
expiration date, the best I could arrange was an itinerary
with two stops, in Newark and Delhi, the latter an overnight.
Leaving home on a Saturday morning at 7 am (8:30 pm in India) I reached my hotel in Kolkata at 5:30 pm on Monday,
a span of some 45 hours door-to-door.
The distance is 10,800 miles.
Of course I did have an excellent rest in a B&B in Delhi.
