GIANNOZZO PUCCI


GIANNOZZO PUCCI, essayist of Florentine culture and architecture with a Ph.D. in Political Science, he has been a leading advocate and founding member of the environmental and anti- nuclear movement in Italy. He pioneered the national movement for organic agriculture in Italy and created in Florence The Fierucola, the first open market of its kind for organic farmers and craftsmen in these times. He also founded ASCI, the only association in Italy for the protection of the small farmer/artisan and traditional products.

Elected a member of the Town Council of Florence in 1990, he served as the President of its Town Planning Commission for six years, and subsequently as the President of the Florentine Historic Football Game until 1999. He is the current President of the Fioretta Mazzei International Asso- ciation for the advancement of the Florentine ethos of Christian humanism.

As a journalist, he has contribued extensively to Il Giornale, La Nazione, Firenze: Ieri, Oggi, Domani. Inspired by Ghandi's philosophy, he started Quaderni d'Ontignano, the first ecological/ alternative press in Italy. He is also the publisher and editor of L'Inventario, a quarterly which aims to alert the general public of major global issues threatening nature and the social welfare of humanity.
